Off-Campus Federal Work/Study

Project Description: The Off-Campus Federal Work-Study Management project was initiated to automate the process of managing reimbursements to Off-Campus Federal Work-Study Partners employing students awarded Federal Work-Study (FWS).

Project Purpose/Business Need: Federal Work-Study provides students with an opportunity to earn money through part-time employment, which is paid by both the government and the employer.  Funds are awarded based on financial need. Off-Campus FWS Partners can be reimbursed for the Federal Work-Study share after paying their student employees, until the Federal Work-Study award amount is fully disbursed.
The current system for managing reimbursements to Off-Campus FWS Partners is an entirely manual system, involving an inordinate amount of overhead for all parties involved (UC Staff, Employers, and Students).  The Office of Financial Aid has asked for IT Services to automate this process as much as possible.

Project Scope: To address the business need, the Web Services team, the Front-End Development team, and the AIS team are working together to create an online form for Employer reimbursement submission and tracking of available funds. The intention is, that by automating this process, we will relieve the burden on all parties involved.
