Project Description: Migrate approx. 4,500 users who are using Basic Authentication for email to Modern Authentication
Project Purpose/Business Need: The purpose of this project is to stop University users from using Basic Authentication and instead use Modern Authentication The Business need or this project stems from the following factors:
- Microsoft is ending support for Basic Authentication
- Modern Authentication is more secure
Project Scope:
- Eliminate use of old technology and migrate users off basic authentication.
- All clients need to use modern authentication, the more secure method use Factor Authentication (2FA).
IT Partners Impacted by Project: This change impacts all partners across the University, including some Emeriti and former students who are accessing UChicago email.
