Project Description: Implement a new content management system (CMS), then create a new Intranet and update uchicago.edu and the F&A websites
Project Purpose/Business Need: University of Chicago faculty, staff, and students currently utilize a web ecosystem that includes 5,000+ websites. These sites leverage hundreds of customized design templates, reside on multiple content management systems (CMS), and rely on numerous hosting providers. In addition, the most visible and accessible part of the ecosystem, www.uchicago.edu, was built in 2012, and in a rapidly evolving digital landscape where websites have a three- to five-year lifespan, the site must be modernized to make the University’s most important external information more easily accessible.
Intranet: The UChicago Intranet is a new online internal platform for faculty, OAAs, and staff, designed to provide University resources, tools, applications, events, news, and announcements in one place. Consider it your new go-to spot to stay connected with UChicago. It is currently in a pilot phase, and will be rolled out more broadly later this winter.

The UChicago Intranet was developed using faculty and staff input and feedback. It offers several features, including two customized views, one for faculty and other academic appointees and another for staff (though for this pilot phase, only the staff view is visible); improved search capabilities; the ability to personalize your home page and “favorite” the pages and applications you use most; a directory of University tools and applications; and pages for the University’s schools and divisions.
