Distribution Refresh

Project Description: The ITS Network Engineering department is planning to replace the distribution layer of the network with modern, supported switches, increasing performance while reducing operational expense.

Project Purpose/Business Need: The distribution layer of the University of Chicago Network has been in place for over ten years, and components are at end of life and vendor support.  Maintenance costs for the components still under support cost over $7,000 per year per switch.  This refresh provides performance enhancements and reduces the operational expense for the network.
